Wallaceburg events lined up to support United Way

Some fundraising events in Wallaceburg are still lined up, as the United Way of Chatham-Kent campaign is nearing an end.

With the campaign touchdown right around the corner on January 23, the United Way is still about $200,000 away from reaching their goal.

To date, just under $1.7 million has been raised, with the overall goal being $1.9 million.

In Wallaceburg and Dresden specifically, their campaigns targets are just shy of 80 per cent of their goal.

– In Wallaceburg: $88,798 has been raised of their of their $113,459 goal (78.3%)

– In Dresden: $72,496 has been raised of their $93,920 goal (77.2%)

Wallaceburg’s radio station 99.1 is holding a radio hostage event all week, starting on January 19.

Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor will be taking the hot seat on January, 21.

“The local United Way has been a charity that I have supported for many years as I have seen the need within our community, and how many have been assisted through some of their toughest times by the way of support from United Way,” McGregor said.

The Wallaceburg Lakers are holding a United Way night on January 21 as well.
