The Wallaceburg Lakers snapped a 20-game losing streak on Friday night, with an overtime win in Alvinston.

Ryan Gruszka was the hero with a goal at the 2:54 mark of OT, assists went to Lucais Meyskens and Jacob Theoret.

The Lakers had not picked up a win since they beat Mooretown 4-1 on Oct. 29.

Scotty Gray was huge in net for Wallaceburg making 36 saves.

Meyskens had two goals and an assist.

Cory Lucier and Mike Brown also scored for Wallaceburg.

The win was a bit bittersweet for the Lakers on Friday.

While the Lakers were celebrating with the win, so were the Mooretoewn Flags, who beat Lakeshore 5-3.

With the win, the Flags clinched a playoff spot. This officially keeps the Lakers out of the playoffs for the fourth straight year in the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League.
