The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Wallaceburg.
Just before 9:00 p.m. last night, the man attended a residence on Elizabeth Street and attempted to force his way into the home through the front door.
The homeowner was able to physically push the man out and lock the door.
The homeowner called 911 and provided officers with a description of the man who was unknown to him.
Within minutes, an officer located the man walking on Elgin Street near Lorne Avenue.
As the officer exited his vehicle, the man walked towards him with both hands concealed in his front coat pockets.
The officer immediately placed the man under arrest and demanded that he show him his hands.
The man refused and began resisting by pulling away.
As the officer attempted to gain control of his hands, the man threw a small vial of suspected hash oil over the cruiser.
Eventually, the man became compliant and was taken into custody.
The 40-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with break and enter, resist arrest and drug possession.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
