
Elliott REID Leeson of Wallaceburg passed peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Hospital on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the age of 79.
Reid is the son of the late Elliot Leeson (1987) & Annie (McPhail) Leeson (2002).
Predeceased by his wife Thelma (Craven) in 1995.
He will be dearly missed by his partner Bonnie Burke (Burgess).
Loving father of Mary Kathryn Holbrook (Mark) of Etobicoke, Elizabeth Eglin (Doug) of Tecumseh and Darcy Leeson of Wallaceburg.
Dear grandfather of Deanna and John Eglin and Melissa Holbrook.
Brother of Richard Leeson (Jean) of Ridgetown.
Predeceased by his sister Rosina (Leeson) Craven (1987) and Brother-In-Law Donald Craven (1994).
He will be missed by Bonnie’s son Bill Burke and his daughters Riley and Ruby Burke.
He was an outstanding farmer and excelled in what he loved for over 55 years.
He was instrumental in bringing back the sugar beet industry to this area in 1996.
He was active in politics and also served as Councillor and Deputy Reeve for Chatham Township.
He was a Director at North Kent Mutual Fire Insurance.
He served on the Kent County Cattleman’s Association and Seed Corn Producers boards.
He spent several years in the development, ownership and management of a hotel (Oak’s Inn), apartments and housing.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9 PM on Thursday.
The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday, January 30 at 11 AM. Interment in Dresden Cemetery.
