With the Super Bowl coming up on Sunday, we decided to look back a few years when Wallaceburg had an extra incentive to watch the big game back in 2011.
After being signed mid-season by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wallaceburg’s own Shaun Suisham solidified a spot on the team as their starting kicker.
Pittsburgh would go on a great run through the playoffs, making it all the way to the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Steelers by the score of 31–25.
A lot of excitement was built up leading up to the game and the familiar “Here We Go” chant for the team still gets stuck in our heads from time to time.
We dug into the vault for our Throwback Thursday this week and found some photos taken at a ‘Suisham’ pep rally at WDSS and at various Wallaceburg bars and locations on Super Bowl Sunday on February 6, 2011.
