It’s time to take some inventory

reminder inventory list resolutions

From the Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Well, the first month of 2015 is already in the books, so now might be a good time to do a little inventory.

If you made a New Year’s resolution back when the ball dropped, how is that going so far?

Are you keeping pace with your fitness goals, closet organizing, family commitments, and financial targets?

If not, what seems to be the problem?

Did you bite off more than you could chew?

It is the better part of wisdom to humble yourself and come down a few notches in order to be realistic and stay with a reasonable course of action.

Try saying to yourself, “Hey, I realize now that I talked a big game on New Year’s Eve but the truth of the matter is that I just aimed too high. I will re-calibrate my goals to a more attainable level and then carry on until I have reached my destination.”

The benefit of such an exercise is two-fold.

First, it liberates you from the noose you tied for yourself in boasting beyond your ability.

Secondly, it allows you to stay on course to accomplish some decent results, even if less than originally planned, instead of quitting altogether and losing everything.

So, help yourself to that lonely piece of humble pie and go and reach your goal!
