Madison Broad shines at Windsor swim meet

Despite battling an shoulder injury, Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad was still electric in the pool this past weekend in Windsor.

The Western Ontario Swimming Association meet was held in Windsor over the weekend, Feb. 6-8.

The 14-year-old Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer finished with four gold medals and a silver.

She captured her gold medals in the 50 fly with a best time of 29.54, 50 back, 100 free with a new best time of 59.00, and the 100 breast with a best time of 1:15.

Her silver was in the 50 breast with a best time of 34.87.

She also finished 4th in the 100 back, which she had to swim in the “Super Heat” with all ages.

She was also 5th in the 200 back in the “Super Heat” finals.

Broad plans to rest her shoulder in the coming weeks, as she prepares for provincials (Feb. 26 to March 1) and the Canadian Swimming Trials (April 1-4.)
