The Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres are accepting applications from Walpole Island groups for potential funding opportunities.
Any not-for-profit organization, group or individual from Walpole Island is eligible.
“This funding initiative supports any activity that educates the community on traditional practices which promote wellness and healing and builds community connections. This funding also supports alternative methods that promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellness and healing towards Minobiimaadzowin (the good life,)” read the guidelines of the program.
Applications that show the most impact on the greatest number of community members in a way that builds capacity, is sustainable and beneficial to the community will be given preference.
Due to the limited availability of these funds, only activities/projects that meet the above guidelines are eligible.
Funds of up to $1,000 will be given to successful applicants.
Applications will be open for submission from February 16-27 and will be reviewed March 2.
Successful applicants will be notified March 3.
All projects must be completed by September 30 of this year.
A panel will review all of the applications.
This group is comprised of representatives of the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centres, aboriginal liaison, a community partner, a community member and a community Elder.
The applications will be scored on the following criteria:
– Meets application guidelines: 30%
– Addresses needs and gaps (impacts a large amount of people): 30%
– Sustainability (builds capacity and can be used at a low/no cost in the future): 20%
– Project goals are clear (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound): 10%
– Cost description is clear: 10%
