Fire at Elizabeth Street garage in Wallaceburg

Update: Details are still scarce at the moment, as firefighters battle a blaze at a garage in Wallaceburg.

Witnesses say the owner of the property had been taken to hospital, although the extent of the persons injuries are not known.

Neighbours said a small car/boat repair business operates out of the building, located at 206 Elizabeth Street.

Deb Houle Simpson, who lives across the Sydenham River from the building, said she could smell burning rubber at her house.

“It had to have started shortly after 8:30 p.m. as we left church about 8:50 p.m. and the trucks were there,” she said. “You could hear the alarm from the building going off.”
