Of course massage therapy can greatly reduce stress (you don’t need me to remind you of that again!) But if you’re looking for other options in between treatments or to help for daily life, here are a few ideas you might want to try :
* Meditation – even a 7 minute meditation during a break at work can greatly reduce stress. Put some headphones on, turn on some relaxing music and close your eyes for a few minutes, and just let yourself take a breather!
* Get active! – stretch (aha – there’s my homecare reminder!), do some yoga, even a quick walk around the office building will help!
* Choose a healthy snack – it’s no secret that many of us turn to food when we’re feeling stressed. But choosing a healthy snack will not only help your body nutritionally, but help you to feel better about yourself and feel more in control of your choices, too. Nothing beats the crunch of a good apple!
* Laugh! – Sometimes laughter really is the best medicine. Talk to a supportive friend, read a funny short story, or listen to your favourite comedian on audiobook. You’ll feel better and maybe regain some footing for a brighter perspective.
* Other ideas are to listen to some of your favourite music, play an instrument, get enough rest (you deserve it!), and practise relaxing breathing techniques.
