Attention: This is a ‘Whiner Alert’

From the Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Are you susceptible to falling prey to the “whiner bug”?

What I mean is, do you have a tendency to be a bit of a downer on things and focus on the negative?

Abraham Lincoln once wisely stated, “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”

Nobody likes to be around a person who complains a lot.

It brings morale down on any sports team, among those in the workplace, and in the family unit.

We all have our faults but the ability to overlook them goes a long way in creating an environment where peace and harmony abound.

There is an old German proverb that says that the key to a good marriage is a deaf husband and a blind wife.

Faultfinding is not a spiritual gift.

It is an irritation and serves as a breeding ground for conflict and strife in whatever arena it finds itself.

I can remember the food quality at the cafeteria where I attended seminary.

It was actually quite good, but very few people seemed to notice because the main cook was so grumpy all the time.

His culinary work was exceptional, but he served it up with such a bad attitude that it kept most students from truly appreciating it.

Life is too short, folks, to be walking around with a perpetual rain cloud hovering over your head.

Endeavour to change your attitude and let a little sunshine in.

It will be better for everyone, you included!
