Police warn about telephone scams

Local police would are reminding everyone to be cautious when receiving phone calls from people advising they are seeking payment for personal or utility accounts.

Yesterday a Chatham woman received a call from a man advising he was calling her on behalf of a hydro company collections agency.

Police officials said this number was called back by police and it was found to be a scam.

“Please be cautious when receiving such calls and call your service provider directly to confirm any account activity,” police officials said.
