Tourism vision sessions planned in C-K

The Chatham-Kent Tourism Stakeholders Advisory Council invites the owners and operators of tourism businesses and organizations to attend one of three Tourism Vision Sessions.

The sessions aim to engage service providers in Chatham-Kent’s tourism sector in discussions designed to help identify and validate new strategies that will drive increases in visitation and revenue for Chatham-Kent.

The result will be Chatham-Kent’s Tourism Destination Management Plan.

“Tourism destination management is a continuous process. It includes coordinating, developing, investing and marketing the tourism potential of a destination in ways that provide value to visitors, businesses and communities,” says Richard Innes of Brain Trust Marketing & Communications, the facilitator of the project.

Lucy Ogletree, Chair of the Chatham-Kent Tourism Stakeholders Advisory Council, encourages people in the industry to attend these sessions: “As our community tries to identify how we should work together to lead an overall tourism strategy, including the development of attractions and how to promote them, it is essential that any plans for the future are grounded in the experience of the industry.”

Richard Innes adds, “We must understand the customer and deliver tourism experiences and services that add value and exceed expectations. Understanding what today’s and tomorrow’s customers expect is what will distinguish one business from the other. In fact, it will be critical to the success of Chatham-Kent as a tourism destination.”

The Tourism Vision Sessions have been scheduled as follows:

– Monday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at John D. Bradley Convention Centre, Chatham

– Tuesday, May 26 at 8:00 a.m. at Captured Moments in Dresden

– Tuesday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Buxton Museum in North Buxton

Please RSVP to patriciap@chatham-kent.ca or by telephoning the Municipality of Chatham-Kent at 519.360.1998 x 2045.
