Inspire someone, it’s incredible!

From the Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Someone once said, “To be inspired is great, to inspire is incredible.”

Nobody knows that better than Uta Pippig, 3-time Boston Marathon winner and 2-time German Olympian.

As she was heading towards the finish of her first Boston win back in 1994 she passed the legendary Dick Hoyt pushing his son, Rick in a wheelchair towards the finish line.

The courage and example of this father towards his disabled son so inspired this champion that she could not put the scene out of her mind.

She eventually became a board member with the Hoyt Foundation and is now the official team coach.

I met this incredibly humble lady earlier this year in Boston.

She took that inspiration and now uses it to inspire so many others, myself included. When you choose to invest in someone through your words of affirmation and encouragement, and take the time to set aside your own interests in order to focus on their needs, you become one who inspires.

There is great value in receiving inspiration from someone who sets a good example, but true fruitfulness comes when we turn that inspiration into actions that inspire others.

Let’s make that our aim and ask the Lord to help us make a difference in the lives of others.
