A Wallaceburg woman is looking to give back to a cause that is near and dear to her heart.

Tiffany Emerson has spearheaded a quarter auction fundraiser in support of Easter Seals Ontario.

“I worked at the Easter Seals camp when I was in college for the summer and it was the most incredible experience that I had,” she said. “The kids there have different forms of physical disabilities and everything there is fully accessible for them. They have everything from rock climbing walls, to high ropes course, to a big swing. It just pushes them beyond their limits and makes them feel comfortable.”

The auction takes place at the CBD Club in Wallaceburg on Friday evening, June 5.

The doors open at 6 p.m., with the auction starting at 7 p.m.

Cost is $5.

“It’s a quarter auction to help send a child to be able to attend one of the camps because one of the camps is a very expensive week for them. They can go for a 10 day course, that’s the program run and I remember them telling us it was $7,000 – $10,000 for one child to attend. Its a very expensive camp but its fully accessible. They have all the supports needs. Lifts, everybody is trained, they have nurses on site, anything you can imagine. They have people that are on midnight shift in case individuals wake up. They are fully supported 100 per cent.”

Emerson said the camps are held all over Ontario, with the one she worked at being Camp Woodeden, outside of London.

“I would like to give back to the community and do something to help give back to something that I feel strongly about and help an individual be able to attend. I know sometimes families with kids with physical or mental disabilities do struggle financially and are not able to se nd their kids to camp.”

At the auction itself, Emerson said 14 vendors are participating, including:

– Thirty One

– Jam Berry

– Epicure

– Sunset Gourmet

– Steeped Tea

– Avon

– Arbone

– Norwex

– Foxy Leggings

– Origami Owl

– PartyLite

– Unique

– Vinyl Designs

– Tupperware

“They are all coming with items to donate and than what happens is all the vendors have all their items and they are listed for different prices. Their most expensive item is going to be donated back to the fundraiser,” Emerson said. “I also have a table that I will have set aside that I will have four items and all the profits are going to go fully to that, as well as a 50/50 draw.”

Tickets are available from any of the vendors and will be available at the door.

Popcorn will be available, which was donated by Movie Time in Wallaceburg. There will also be a cash bar.

“It’s a good girls night out, if they want to go downstairs, there is entertainment afterwards,” Emerson said.
