OFSAA soccer invading Wallaceburg this week

wdss tartans ofsaa soccerThe Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association (OFSAA) ‘AA’ girls soccer tournament is being held in Wallaceburg this week.

The tournament runs from Thursday to Saturday with a total of 20 teams taking part.

The Wallaceburg Tartans girls team will participate in the tournament, as they qualified as hosts.

Games will be held at Kinsmen Park, Perry Park, Steinhoff Park and at WDSS.

Wallaceburg will play four round-robin games in the tourney:

– Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at Perry Park

– Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at WDSS

– Friday, 8 a.m. at Steinoff Park

– Friday, 1:30 p.m. at WDSS

The gold medal game is scheduled to take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at WDSS.

Over 500 people are expected to attend the event over the course of three days.

The festivities kick started on Wednesday evening at WDSS with the OFSAA soccer banquet as well.

Mark Childs, owner of the Black Goose, said it was one of the biggest banquets they have ever catered.

The WDSS gymnasium was packed for the event.
