Pet owners in the area will have some more options now when their “fur-babies” are in need.
Dr. Gerrit Deuzeman has amalgamated his mobile vet practice with Dr.Kerry Mall and his clinics in Wallaceburg, Dresden and Chatham.
“We thought that is was a good move for him and for us,” said Krista Mall, manager of DMS Vet Group. “The main reason being, Dr. Deuzeman was doing it on his own and his main practice/head clinic he was dealing with was in Bright’s Grove.”
Krista Mall added: “We just thought it’s more convenient for clients if their animals are sick and they have to take their pets to get more extensive work, such as x-rays and blood work, we can offer a lot closer of a location. He is on the road all day, so it’s nice for him to have a little bit of help so that our vets can be on the road as well. It’s not just going to be him doing it all by himself all the time. He is a great vet and people really, really like him. We work really well with him.”
Dr. Kerry Mall, owner of DMS Vet Group, along with Dr. Pathman from the Dresden clinic, will be handling some of the mobile calls.
“Dr. Deuzeman is working with us a little bit. We are still trying to get all the kinks out. He is going to be working on the road as well. Maybe just not all day everyday. We are carrying the cellphone number that he has. Basically if they call that number we have that cellphone here at the office and we book the appointment for him or depending on where they are located to a vet,” Krista Mall said.
She added, it’s getting the clients better care and closer locations.
“The surgeries were previously going out to Bright’s Grove. They would pick them up and bring them to the animal hospital there, like spays and neuters. Now we are picking them up but they are just going to Dresden. So that is less stress on the animals. You can pick up medication or food you can pick that up at either location so its a lot more convenient for people. We are still going to be offering the same mobile service. We just figure its a great opportunity to provide better service for all the people in the Wallaceburg, Dresden area. We are excited. We have a lot of new people coming to see us.”
DMS Vet Group has been set up in Wallaceburg since April of 2014 with the Sydenham River Veterinary Office.
“It was a year in April here. It’s going really well and we are just starting to get our feet wet here and with Dr. Deuzeman coming on board,” Krista Mall said.
24-hour emergency care is a service that is available through the DMS Vet Group, Krista Mall said.
“Our vets are on call and our technicians are on call 24/7 and we are providing all emergency services right here in Chatham, Dresden, Wallaceburg. That is a big thing. We take anybody for emergency services and we provide it right here. The biggest thing is its local and we just want to provide better and more convenient services.”
