Critical injuries suffered in 401 crash

On July 1, 2015, just after 5:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Fire Services and Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision involving a Ford Taurus and a tractor trailer on Highway 401 eastbound, near Bloomfield Road.

The collision occurred when an eastbound Taurus struck the rear of an eastbound tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer was stopped on the highway as a result of traffic congestion ahead.

The male driver of the Taurus, a 27 year old from Ridgetown, was airlifted to hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The vehicle he was operating sustained severe damage.

The driver of the transport was uninjured.

The investigation is continuing.
