Two big projects are getting under way this month at Dresden’s and Wallaceburg’s high schools.

A $2.2 Million upgrade is coming to Wallaceburg District Secondary School (WDSS) to renovate the library and fitness facility plus improvements to the track and field facilities.

Work will begin in July and should be completed within a year.

The Ministry provided the funding for the facility enhancements after the Board downsized one elementary school in the community and moved all the Grade 7 and 8 students into WDSS.

Facility enhancements for the Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden will also begin in July and are expected to be completed in the fall.

The project includes upgrades to the soccer fields and baseball diamond and a new track and field facility.

The majority of the funding for this project is a result of a strong community fundraising initiative to improve the learning environment for the students.

The total budget for this project is $555,211.00.
