In January, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police were contacted in regards to several mischief complaints.

It was learned that a Chatham female met a Texas man while on vacation in 2011.

The two remained in contact and a relationship developed over time, resulting in a marriage proposal in April of 2014.

Eventually the relationship broke down and the wedding was called off in late 2014.

The man demanded the engagement ring back and provided a deadline in early January, 2015.

The ring was not returned and as a result, on the morning of January 21, 2015, the former bride to be, and several females scheduled to be in her bridal party, woke up to their vehicles being spray painted with derogatory phrases and/or substances being poured into their fuel tanks.

Through several weeks of investigation, including contact with Canada Border Services Agency, it was learned that the former groom to be, rented a vehicle and crossed the Ambassador Bridge in the early morning hours of January 21, 2015.

He is suspected to have attended Chatham-Kent with spray paint and an unknown substance; spray painting obscene phrases on the vehicles and damaging some internally by pouring the substance into the fuel tanks.

The male crossed back over the Ambassador Bridge approximately 4.5 hours after initially entering the country.

A warrant was eventually sought after for his arrest.

On July 9, 2015, the 34 year old Texas, USA man attended Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters to turn himself in on the outstanding warrants.

He was charged with six counts of mischief over $5,000, and two counts of mischief under $5,000, and held for bail hearing.
