In the afternoon of July 9, 2015, Chatham-Kent Police attended a business on Richmond St, with Fire and Ambulance, for an unconscious male and possible dangerous work conditions.

Police say two of the employees began feeling nauseous, as a result of a propane powered forklift being operated in the work area.

One of the males vomited and then fell to the floor and became unresponsive.

His co-worker was unable to wake him and dialed 9-1-1.

The workplace was evacuated and an air test was conducted, finding levels of hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide, which caused the workers’ illness.

The two males were transported to hospital for observation and treated for poisoning.

The businesses in the area were evacuated and the scene was held for the Ministry of Labour to investigate further.
