It appears the bad news has gotten worse for Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers kicker has torn his ACL and will be out for the 2015 season.

Reports say an MRI confirmed the news on Monday. Suisham is set to have surgery this week, and the Steelers are likely to put him on injured reserve and go shopping for a new kicker.

In the Pittsburgh Steelers pre-season opener on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, Suisham went down with a knee injury in the second half. Suisham was trying to make a tackle on a kickoff.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had said it was a “potentially significant left knee injury.”

Suisham enjoyed a career year for the Steelers last season.

He finished the regular season 29 for 32 on field goal attempts, good for a 90.6 per cent clip.

This number placed him 6th in the NFL for the best field goal percentage.

His 29 field goals placed him tied for 8th in the league.
