A Windsor woman is facing a string of charges after leaving the scene of a crash outside of Wallaceburg.
On August 11, 2015, just after 6:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles at Highway 40 and Electric Line.
The collision occurred when a Lincoln car that was stopped on Electric Line facing eastbound at the intersection of Electric Line and Highway 40, was struck on the front driver’s side by a southbound Dodge Caravan that was turning onto Electric Line from Highway 40.
The female driver of the Dodge stopped briefly, then continued westbound on Electric Line.
The 76-year-old male driver of the Lincoln was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Chatham-Kent OPP officers located the Dodge less than two hours later, travelling southbound on Bearline Road.
During conversation with the female driver of the Dodge, it was determined that she had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit.
A 23-year-old woman from Windsor, has been charged with the following:
– Driving With More Than 80 mgs, Of Alcohol In Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail To Remain, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
She will appear in a Chatham court on September 1, 2015, to answer to the charge under the Criminal Code of Canada, and September 9, 2015, to answer to the charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
The driver of the Dodge did not report any injuries.
