Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) welcomes two new specialist physicians to the community – Drs. George Jacob and Jason Back.

Dr. George Jacob is the newest Obstetrician/Gynaecologist (OB/GYN) physician to join the hospital. He recently graduated from Western University from the residency program as well as completing medical school there.

Dr. Jacob completed a rotation at CKHA during his residency training which allowed him the opportunity to explore the Chatham-Kent community and get acquainted with his medical peers while here. When deciding where to set up his practice, this was a key factor in his decision-making process.

“I completed my medical school as well as my obstetrics/gynaecology residency at Western University. As a general obstetrician/gynaecologist, my goal is to offer excellent care in women’s reproductive health and to be an informed advocate for my patients. Outside of my practice, I am interested in clinical research and teaching medical trainees. My wife, 10-month old son, and I have enjoyed making new friends over the past few weeks and visiting places in and around Chatham.”

Dr. Jason Back is a pathologist who joined CKHA in early September. He recently completed his residency in hematopathology from State University of New York. Originally from Ontario, Dr. Back is keen to be back near family.

“I chose to return to Canada after medical training in the United States to be closer to my family in the Hamilton area. Chatham seemed perfect to accomplish this without the traffic of Toronto. I enjoy fishing and hockey and am finding the area has plenty of both for me. I’m looking forward to a long career in Chatham.”
