The Chatham-Kent Fire Department is still investigating after a blaze at an agricultural smoke barn in Dover.

Fire officials say crews were called out to 7140 St. Phillipe Line in Grande Pointe at 5:24 p.m.

Alan DeVillaer, assistant fire chief, said $100,000 damage was caused, while $50,000 worth of property was saved.

“Firefighters arrived at the scene of a working smoke barn fire,” DeVillaer stated. “Fire crews from four stations fought the fire for approximately three hours. There was minimal damage to the surrounding corn field. There were no injuries and no other structures were damaged.”

Firefighters from stations #4 Dover, #5 Tupperville, #7 Chatham South, and #12 Harwich North battled the blaze.
