Chatham-Kent Public Library is pleased to announce the arrival of a new service at Dresden Branch.
Thanks to the generosity of our partners, The Catherine McVean Chapter of IODE, the community of Dresden and The Darcy McKeough Foundation, Dresden Branch is now home to a modern microfilm reader promising improved service for patrons, visiting genealogy researchers and local history enthusiasts.
To celebrate the launch of our new microfilm reader, Dresden Branch will be holding an open house Tuesday, October 20th from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Chatham-Kent is steeped in history and the library’s genealogical resources are in demand from both local residents, including local historical societies, and visitors.
Modern microform readers accommodate both film and fiche in the same machine and have enlarging, cropping, printing and saving capabilities that the outdated machines do not have.
The library also brings in microfilm from Archives of Ontario and other sources for patrons doing research.
With this new machine, budding genealogists and seasoned researchers can also look forward to more intuitive features making it easier for everyone to access the information they need.

Dresden Branch staff will be on hand to demonstrate the new microfilm scanner, computer and printer and assist patrons in answering any questions they may have.
