Police launch anti-bullying video contest

Bullying is an issue that affects all of us, directly or indirectly, regardless of our age, gender, culture, religion or nationality.

This is an opportunity for kids across our Municipality to get involved, not by waiting for ‘someone else’ to do something, but rather for all of us to work together on preventing bullying here in Chatham-Kent through education and awareness.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like encourage safe schools and a healthy community.

You can help by submitting a VIDEO that shows how our young people can stand up, make a difference and be the change.

Purpose

The purpose of this challenge is to engage students across Chatham-Kent in bullying awareness and prevention through a video competition. It’s a chance for students between the ages of 10-18 years to creatively produce a video to help combat bullying. The campaign is designed as an opportunity for the voices of our youth to be heard.

Task

Students are asked to create a video that addresses the theme: ‘Stand Up to Bullying’. The video must not contain, depict or refer to anything crude, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, discriminatory, offensive or illegal. The video cannot contain, depict or refer to any irresponsible behaviour, risk to personal safety or damage to property.

Videos are to be no longer than 3 minutes in length.

Videos are welcome from students who wish to work independently or in groups. Should the video be a group effort, the group must elect a principal entrant to receive the prize and the sharing of such prize shall be the sole responsibility of the group.

Deadline to submit videos will be Monday, November 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.

Upload your video submission to You Tube and email the link to Const. Renee Cowell reneec@chatham-kent.ca along with your name, school and grade.

Prizes

The top three videos will be awarded prizes. The winning video will be showcased during Bullying Awareness Week which is November 15-21, 2015.
