A little goes a long way in the thankfulness department

So, it’s another Thanksgiving weekend and I want to ask you: what are you thankful for?

Galva, Illinois farmer, Carl Bates, is thankful for the fellow farmers in his rural, Midwest community.

Suffering from terminal cancer and unable to harvest 450 acres of crop still in the ground, Bates found himself on the receiving end of some incredible “love in action” just when he needed it.

Word spread that he had a need and the next thing he knew there were 10 combines, 16 semis and 40 people descending upon his farm to get the job done.

Everyone came at their own expense and even some businesses chipped in to feed the hungry crew.

What should have taken all week for Bates got done in just 10 hours.

The ailing Bates then hopped into the passenger side of a pick-up truck to personally thank his thoughtful neighbours.

Surely you are thankful for something, aren’t you?

It’s easy to be a pessimist and complain about stuff, but that doesn’t do us any good and it’s such a downer for dinner conversation.

Why not take a few minutes this weekend and jot down a few things that come to mind for which you are thankful.

Then, pray and thank God for them, too.

You may even want to call someone who is responsible for your heart of gratitude.

I guarantee that they’ll be thankful you took the time to call them.

A little goes a long way in the thankfulness department!

  1. I am thankful for many things, but this weekend travelling the highways I am reminded to thank a farmer. They are working long hours these days to complete their jobs. Please do not make rude gestures or comments to farmers as they slow you down on our local roads. Remember “Farmers Feed Cities and Communities”.

Thank You Brian for the reminder and Sydenham Current for the opportunity to express my thanks!
