Waterloo Regional Police General Detectives and Wilfrid Laurier University Police are working together to ensure the safety of students and faculty as an internet threat was received by the University.

The Waterloo campus of Wilfrid Laurier University will be closed for the day as investigators determine the validity of the threat and its origin.

Police are working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the RCMP.

“For precautionary measures, the campus will be closed to ensure the safety and security of staff, faculty, students and the community”, said Kevin Crowley, Communications and Public Affairs Director of WLU.

The school is considered in “lockdown” and an increase in police presence will be noticeable.

Access to various areas surrounding the Waterloo campus of Wilfrid Laurier University will be prohibited.
