CUPE members rally in Wallaceburg

Members of CUPE 4168 gathered outside of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board office on Tuesday, for a protest and information rally.

The rally was held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., prior to the schools board’s meeting at their Creek Street building in Wallaceburg.

Information brochures were handed out to people attending the board meeting, and to other people from the public.

Canadian Union for Public Employees (CUPE) flags and signs were on display, as the members walked around the board office.

Without a contract for over a year, CUPE members say government cutbacks are compromising their ability to provide proper learning environments for students.

CUPE workers include custodians, educational assistants, instructors, office administrators, library technicians, speech pathologists, and more.
