On November 20, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) attended the intersection of Marthaville Road and Aberfeldy Line within the Township of Dawn-Euphemia in order to investigate a motor vehicle collision.
Although the investigation is on-going, the OPP has determined that an S.U.V. had been travelling south bound on Marthaville Road toward a controlled intersection at Aberfeldy Line. At that time the S.U.V. continued into the intersection, crossing the path of a Dodge pick- up truck that had been travelling east bound on Aberfeldy Line. This resulted in the pick- up truck striking the S.U.V.
The driver of the S.U.V. was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the pick- up truck was transported to Hospital with seemingly minor injuries.
Members of the O.P.P, Emergency Medical Services, Dawn-Euphemia Fire Department and Hydro One were in attendance.
Currently, O.P.P. Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are on scene continuing with the investigation. The intersection of Marthaville Road and Aberfeldy Line has been completely closed and is expected to be closed for the next three to four hours (7:00 p.m.). The O.P.P. is asking all motorists to refrain from attending this area and to obey all road closure signs protecting the scene and O.P.P. investigators.
The identification of the deceased and injured driver(s) will not be released at this time pending sufficient next-of-kin notification.
