Lambton-Kent -Middlesex MP Bev Shipley has been appointed to a new position with the Conservative Party of Canada.
Rona Ambrose, the interim leader of the official opposition, appointed Shipley to Critic for Rural Affairs.
“In this new position, I look forward to the challenge of holding the government to account on the many issues which affect rural Canada,” Shipley wrote on social media.
Those issues include:
– Rural Infrastructure
– Economic Development
– Agriculture
– Protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners
– Resource Protection
“I also look forward to working and meeting with stakeholder groups and individuals to be a strong advocate on their issues of concern,” Shipley wrote.
It was a bittersweet win for Shipley last month, when he was re-elected in L-K-M with 50.2% of the vote.
However, with a decisive Liberal majority win overall, it left Shipley on the opposition side of Parliament for the first time in his four terms.
