Two hours, three drunk driving charges across C-K

In a two hour span on Sunday night, Chatham-Kent police laid three separate drunk driving charges across the community.

Last night around 9:30 p.m. an officer on general patrol on Duke Street in Chatham observed a vehicle in the middle of the road with no lights or license plates.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation formed the opinion that the man was driving his car while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside test was administered and the man failed. The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 35-year-old Chatham man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of December 8, 2015.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. last night, police received information about a possible impaired driver leaving the Via Rail parking lot on Queen Street in Chatham.

Around 10:30 p.m. an officer located the vehicle travelling westbound on Tecumseh Line and observed the driver leaving the roadway onto the shoulder multiple times.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the woman was operating her SUV while under the influence of alcohol.

The woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further breath tests.

A 49-year-old Tilbury woman has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit. She was released pending a future court date of December 8, 2015.

Around 11:30 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed a vehicle swerving all over Erie Street South in the Ridgetown area.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation believed the man was driving his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

The man was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 36-year-old Howard Township man has been charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of December 8, 2015.
