A online fundraiser has been launched for an injured Wallaceburg teen.

Brayden Fields, 17, suffered life-threatening injuries when the van he was driving went off the road and struck a tree on McCreary Line on Saturday night.

Brayden is currently in critical condition at the Children’s Hospital in London.

The WDSS student suffered multiple injuries as a result of the accident, including a broken pelvis, eight broken ribs, a broken jaw, fractured skull, swelling of the brain, and internal bleeding.

An online fundraiser on GoFundMe has been launched to offset costs for his family.

“He WILL recover and he WILL get through this however it is going to take time, lots of time and determination,” wrote Mike Everaert, the creator of GoFundMe page. “We are confident that Brayden’s infectious personality and spirit will prevail but we ask for your help. Any donation that you can afford to give is truly appreciated and will go a long way for his recovery.”

Brayden’s mother Julie Fields said the support is very much appreciated.

“Brayden, Lauren, Andy and I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to collect funds for us and all of the highschool kids who are spearheading the amazing colour days, t-shirt and ribbon fundraisers,” Julie wrote on Facebook.

“We have received an amazing amount of support from all of our family and friends and the amazing community of wallaceburg. We couldn’t ask for a better support group! We are definitely feeling the love and we will be eternally grateful! We are overwhelmed and humbled by the well wishes. We love u all! From the bottom of our hearts…thank you! The money will most definitely help. We are not sure how long it is going to take for him to fight this fight. The prayers are the most important though…keep them coming!”
