Weapons charges in Wallaceburg

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg in regards to an assault.

Through investigation, police received information that the suspect, a local man, had fled the area in a blue Dodge Charger.

Officers located the vehicle travelling on Margaret Avenue and a traffic stop was initiated. The man was located in the back seat and observed to be clearly concealing something in his right hand. Upon being asked to show the officer his hands, the man threw the object on the floor of the vehicle.

A search of the man and the vehicle revealed that he was in possession of a flick knife, pellet gun fashioned to be a replica of a Glock handgun and paintball gun fashioned to be a replica of a Mac-10 style machine gun.

Police further received information that the man was currently bound by numerous conditions.

The 19-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with five weapon related offences and three counts of Breach of Probation.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
