Classmates, parents and teachers at WDSS are rallying together to raise some funds for Brayden Fields and his family.

Brayden, 17, suffered life threatening injuries in a car crash on November 21. He has been in a London hospital since.

Bethany Williams, a parent volunteer, is helping spearhead a barbecue on Wednesday, December 2 at Wallaceburg District Secondary School from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“We are going to have prizes,” she said. “It’s going to be more of a raffle at this point. So we are going to have a bunch of different prizes and raffle them off.”

The raffle will go on until Friday, when the draws will take place for the winners.

Williams said the items will all be on display Wednesday during the barbecue.

“It is open to everybody, not just the high school kids,” she said. “There is going to be hot dogs, some cookies and drinks.”

Williams said there is a wide selection of items in the raffle.

“They are all donated from local businesses in Wallaceburg,” she said. “We have everything from gift cards to Big Chief. Taylor’s donated a bowl of goodies of products that they sell. We have D.S. Walker with gifts cards, we have a haircut, a massage from the Wellness Centre. We have all kinds of hair products from Sensations. Rexall has donated stuff… Black Goose, Crabby Joe’s, and Subway.”

Williams said they have personal donations from students.

“They have brought in different gift cards as well,” she said.

If any other businesses want to donate items, they can contact Rob McLachlan at WDSS by calling 519-627-3368.

An online #prayforbrayden campaign has already raised $5,905 in just a week as well.
