Around 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, CIBC employees on King Street in Chatham received a bomb threat from a man inside the bank.
The man fled on foot prior to police arrival however officers located him a short distance away and he was apprehended.
As a precaution the bank was cleared by police.
Through investigation, officers determined that the threat was a hoax.
No one was injured.
The 52-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with uttering threats.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
