On December 9, 2015, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Ontario Police Commercial Vehicle Committee teamed up to offer approximately 30 front line officers from various police services all over Southern Ontario, including officers from the Chatham-Kent OPP Detachment, a training course covering many topics in relation to Commercial Vehicles and Enforcement.
The course included an outdoor practical training component as part of the curriculum.
The results were as follows:
Commercial Vehicle Stops: 160
Commercial Vehicles Brought To Inspection Location: 40
Full Mechanical Exams Conducted: 12
Commercial Vehicle Out Of Service: 7
Charges laid: 38
On December 16, 2015, Chatham-Kent OPP officers and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) officers teamed up to offer an OnRoute Educational Wheel-Off Event at the westbound Tilbury OnRoute Service Centre between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Approximately 50 drivers made their way over to the display that was set up in the parking lot area of the service centre. Officers answered inquiries and provided a wide array of informational pamphlets to the drivers.
