Weapons and drugs seized during Thamesville raid

Last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Unit, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a search warrant for weapons in Thamesville.

Officers searched the residence and located a large quantity of knives, including a butterfly knife, which is a prohibited weapon as per the Criminal Code.

The other knives, which are not prohibited or restricted were seized for public safety.

Several firearms were also seized for examination.

Upon being physically inspected by a Firearms Examiner, they were identified as air-soft guns, therefore no charges were laid in relation to the replica firearms.

Officers also seized marijuana and hydromorphone.

A 26-year-old man of Jane Street in Thamesville was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

A 56-year-old woman of Jane Street in Thamesville was arrested and charged with possession of prohibited weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order dated in 2008, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Both were released with conditions pending a future court date of February 4, 2016.
