The Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries is extremely grateful for all the support during their Christmas campaign. To attempt to meet their shortfall, the campaign was extended until January 15th.

The Salvation Army is happy to announce that they have achieved 99.6% (or $448,200) of their $450,000 goal.

It was only through the support of the whole community that this was achieved. Whether you donated financially through the kettles and mail-in campaign or whether you gave of your time volunteering in various roles, we could not have done this without you. Thank you for your donation of time and financial resources.

Thank you to the many businesses and organizations that stepped up during the Christmas season to assist us in many ways. Thank you for the businesses that allowed us to have our Red Kettles in your locations. Thank you to the many people that organized toys and food drives.

“We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to enhancing our current programs,” stated Captain Stephanie Watkinson. “Our plan is still to do smaller fundraisers for particular needs throughout the year. Our first fundraiser is partnering with Raising The Roof Campaign to sell hats, mitts and socks. These funds will be used to assist with our programs in preventing and addressing homelessness.”

Your generous donations enabled us to assist almost 1,000 families with food hampers and provided toys for almost 1,100 children this past Christmas. Your generosity will enable us to continue providing help to those in Chatham-Kent with the basic necessities – food, clothing, shelter and furniture. It will also enable us to continue to assist individuals and families with life-skills classes and expand community gardens.

The need in our community for assistance with everyday necessities is a year-round need, not just at Christmas time. We ask you to continue to support the work of The Salvation Army year round as we continue to meet the needs of our neighbours, friends and families.

Thank you Chatham-Kent for your generosity. You have once again proven that C-K is a caring, giving community that help those around them in need.

All funds donated throughout Chatham-Kent are used in their local area.
