The Wallaceburg and District Museum is looking to open their doors and offer their amenities to interested not-for-profit groups.

Michelle Bissonnette, the curator at the Museum, said the Jeanne Gordon Hall is available for groups to hold fundraisers.

“It’s a nice space but it has not been used a lot in the last little while, so we are really trying to get the community in more to make more use of it,” Bissonnette said.

“We rent out the space, but if we have got non-profit groups that are looking to do fundraisers for a worthy cause, we are more than happy to collaborate with them on that.”

Bissonnette said the Museum has been busy refurbishing the Jeanne Gordon Hall as well.

“It’s nice and up to speed and stylish,” she said.

One of the groups taking advantage of the offer by the Museum is the Wallaceburg Veteran and Family Support Group.

On January 30 at 7 p.m. the film Hyena Road will be aired in the Theatre.

“If you are going to see one movie in Wallaceburg, this is the year, this is the one,” said Rob Simpson, president of the Wallaceburg Veteran and Family Support Group.

“It’s going to be a great, great night for people. We are going to spread this out to the Island, Port Lambton, Dresden, Chatham to get people to come out.”

Cost to attend is a donation at the door. The Museum will be selling pop and popcorn.
