Tawnya Blackbird Marsh formerly of Walpole Island

Tawnya-Blackbird-Marsh-1455108609Tawnya Daanis Blackbird Marsh of Vancouver B.C. and formerly of Walpole Island First Nation and North Bay, died suddenly in Vancouver on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at the age of 37.

Tawnya is the daughter of Deborah Blackbird & Randall Johnson and Art & Dianne Marsh. Beloved mother of Alicia, Aaron, Abigail and Amelia. Dear sister of Nikiyah Mulak-Dunn (Benjamin), Ryan Blackbird (Colleen), Sammy Jo Johnson and the late Paul Blackbird. Granddaughter of Inez Blackbird, the late Burlington Blackbird, Lauretta Jones and the late Ralph Jones. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, aunties & uncles from far and wide.

Tawnya was a graduate of Cambrian College in Sudbury and was working in aboriginal mental health. She was also a talented writer, singer, painter and dancer.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 7-9 PM on Wednesday and Thursday. The funeral will be celebrated at the Evangelistic Centre (Dan Shab Road, Walpole Island) on Friday, February 12 at 11 AM.
