Last night around 8:15 p.m. two men on an ATV were observed behind Food Basics on Chatham Street North. They were last seen travelling on Storey Street with no helmets. About an hour and a half later, the men drove through the area again and momentarily stopped around the gas station.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service are looking to identify these men in an attempt to speak with them regarding their illegal driving of an ATV in town and riding without helmets.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Paul Myers at paulmy@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 extension #82512. Anonymous callers may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that the only areas in Chatham-Kent that allow these vehicles to be driven on a road are in the Mitchell’s Bay, Erieau, Shrewsbury and Bates Subdivision (Rondeau) between November and March. It is not lawful for ATVs to be driven on and/or along a highway. They may be driven on your own property or other private property where you have permission to ride them.
