Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers remain out on Highway 401 at this time, assisting with vehicles in the ditch and median throughout the afternoon.

While the roads mostly appear bare and wet through the Chatham-Kent area of the highway, motorists are advised to slow down, drive according to the road conditions and leave ample room between you and the vehicle ahead of you.

There are icy sections and in some areas, visibility suddenly drops to less than 100 metres due to blowing snow.

Chatham-Kent OPP is urging motorists to be cautious of officers and tow trucks that are out on Highway 401 today attending to vehicles in the ditch and median along the highway.

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind motorists to drive responsibly at all times, and particularly during inclement weather and road conditions.

It is every driver’s responsibility to do their part in keeping the roads safe for everyone.

The Lambton OPP has been kept busy today as well.

Lambton OPP officials say between 5 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. members of the Lambton OPP attended to 11 incidents with regard to drivers operating their vehicles to fast for winter road conditions.

Of those 11, only two involved collisions between one or more vehicles.

Currently, there are three transport trucks/trailers located in the median of the 402 highway between Nauvoo Road and Oil Heritage Road.

The 402 Highway between Oil Heritage and Nauvoo Roads remains a concern due to blowing snow, poor road conditions and excessive speed
