The Dresden Terry Fox Run eclipsed a landmark figure on Tuesday night.
Cindy Brewer, the long time organizer for the annual event, told the Sydenham Current the 20-year total raised for cancer research has reached $500,000.
“The accounting year closes at the end of March and we needed a little boost to get us over the top, that’s where Dresden Minor Hockey comes in,” Brewer said.
“They went over and above reaching a total of $1,865 at their Terry Fox Skate on Tuesday night. We want to send a big thank you to the players and coaches and everyone that pledged them. When we add the Dresden Minor Hockey fundraising efforts to the community run totals, we arrive at $500,000 in 20 years.”
It was a record breaking day at the latest Dresden Terry Fox Run held in September.
A total of 383 people participated and volunteered at the event and $37,429.10 was raised.
