A taser was used during an arrest at the hospital in Chatham on Thursday.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials said yesterday morning, officers attended the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance to assist with an aggressive patient who was refusing to comply with the requests of hospital staff in Chatham.

As officers arrived on scene, the man grabbed a pair of scissors and held them in an assaultive manner, police allege.

As the man refused to comply with the officer to drop the scissors, a conducted energy weapon was deployed for everyone’s safety and he was apprehended.

The 38-year-old Chatham man was charged with being in a possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with his probation order.

He was transported to the courthouse pending a bail hearing.
