The Chatham-Kent Police Service have released the identity of the boy who died in C-K this week, after getting hit by a truck.
Police say on Sunday, April 17 around 7:15 p.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Smoke Line.
A 55-year-old Chatham man was driving his Ford F-150 pick-up truck westbound on Smoke Line when he struck a little boy who exited the ditch and began running across the highway.
The young boy was playing with friends in the ditch near his home.
The boy sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
Medical personnel attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful.
The young boy has been identified as Martin Gunther, 4 years old, of Smoke Line in Camden Township.
Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service offer their deepest condolences to Martin’s family and friends.
The collision remains under investigation by the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit.
