Capsized boat pulled from Sydenham River

Firefighters took to the water on Friday morning to pull a capsized boat from the Sydenham River in Wallaceburg.

A crew from the Chatham-Kent Fire Department Station #3 hooked onto an overturned boat, which had floated down just past the boat launch at the end of Gillard Street.

Debris and junk could be seen floating behind the capsized boat as firefighters dragged the boat closer to the boat ramp.

A Chatham-Kent Police Service officer at the scene said they had received information the previous evening of a boat, filled with junk, floating down the river.

The officer said this boat fit the description.

Wallaceburg 24-hour Towing was called in to take the boat away.
