After tragedy struck in Nice, France on Thursday evening, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent took to their social media accounts to spread some love, instead of hate.

“With recent events, we should never take for granted the safety and freedom we celebrate every day here in Canada. Today, let’s try and not let hate win,” the Municipality posted on their Facebook page.

“Go out of your way to help somebody today, go out of your way to tell somebody what a great job they are doing, go out of your way to hug somebody who needs it. Right now, the world needs more kindness and good and maybe if Chatham-Kent can demonstrate that in the end kindness, compassion, and understanding for each other wins, it might just catch on.”

Reports say over 80 people were killed when a large truck plowed through a Bastille Day crowd in the French city.

Officials are calling the incident a terror attack.
