The game uses your phones GPS technology and sends players into the real world to search for the digital monsters, aka. Pokémon .
The creatures appear on your phones screen in different locations throughout the day.
Various landmarks are noted on the map of Wallaceburg in the game, including the historical town plaque behind the Wallaceburg Adult Activity Centre. And nearby, the Wallaceburg Library is a Pokémon GO gym… which is a hub where you can battle other Pokémon GO trainers and raise your “prestige points.”
The popularity of the game reached record numbers in the United States, and the blitz of traffic during the first hour of its release in Canada crashed the apps servers.
Now we’d like to hear from the readers of the Sydenham Current… have you played Pokémon GO?
